Catch up

I found this post on my phone that I had started over a month ago. Better late than never!

The boys are growing so quickly, and are so busy, it’s been hard to find the time to get on the computer to blog about it. Eze is fully obsessed with Mine.Craft, Dave is busy designing and billing for landscaping. With only one computer at home, it’s a battle to get some computer time. Thank goodness Simon hasn’t figured out the password to the computer!

It also doesn’t help that we have misplaced our nice camera. This post is being written from my phone, and pics will be good old iPhone pics as well.

– Today for lunch, we ate at my parents’ house. After lunch, we were sitting at the table chatting. Simon was sitting between my younger sister and me. He leaned over to her and said, “I need your ear”. And then whispered a secret to her. Cracked me up 🙂

– Often too, we will be driving in the car, everyone quiet, and suddenly Simon will exclaim, “Ohhhhh, I get it!!!!!!” to no one in particular.

– He has become a mostly happy guy these days, we can tell because he walks around singing a lot. He loves to sing Happy Birthday, and also sings some made up songs to himself while he is playing (cars).

– The other night, I asked him how he liked his “bahp”. He answered, “Da rice is good!” (Bahp is Korean for rice). I love that he still translates and understands Korean 🙂

– His favorite things are still cars (especially keys lately), and snacking. If we bring snacks anywhere with us, we can get him to sit still for a good long time just letting him munch on peanuts, string cheese, crackers, fruit, etc.

-Sometimes he’ll turn to me and say, “Heyyyyy, Mr. Tooty Tot”. Random and hilarious.

-As for Eze? He still makes us laugh on a regular basis. He has kind of struggled with school being over for the summer. He adored his Kindergarten teacher, and misses her a lot. He proposed to her multiple times during the school year, and often expressed how he wanted to kiss her. My favorite line of hers is, “kissing’s for college!”

– Eze ran/walked a 5k color run with me a couple of weeks ago. We would sprint, then walk, then stop to put rocks in his pockets, and then do a piggy back ride. We had lots of fun, and lots of people remarked on what a great job he was doing, and how handsome he is 🙂

– Living in a houseful of boys is an everyday-adventure. Many of our jokes revolve around flatulence. Even on our toughest days, we all get a big laugh out of anyone who toots. And we walk around making superhero noises with our web-shooting hands. And we are always exhausted and usually entertained with these boys and their antics.

Eze woke up this morning with some new hair growth.

New Toys

We’ve been saving for a while and finally were able to buy an iPad mini! Between Dave’s work, and Eze learning to use the computer, having only one well-functioning computer in the house made it hard to do things like blog, work on our budget, etc. I’m hoping that this will make it easier for me to be able to do these things.

Our summer has been going fairly well. Ezekiel struggles a bit with the lack of structure that summer brings. Simon loves the time home with Eze and Dave on Mondays and Tuesdays, and is not a fan of getting to daycare on Wed-Fri. He ends up having lots of fun there, and we love having him in a daycare where he is well-loved and well-cared for.

in a couple of weeks, we are taking a family trip up to a resort in Northern Minnesota with family to celebrate Rachel’s parents’ __th birthdays and __th anniversary 🙂 We can’t wait to spend a week relaxing and spending time with family we don’t get to see on a regular basis. Ezekiel is excited to share some toot stories with Uncle Nate, and both boys can’t wait to see what kinds of treats await them (see below).

Treats from Auntie Yaya and Uncle Jay!!

Hot baby

Lately, Ezekiel has been licking himself on his arms or the backs of his hands. When I ask him what he is doing, he says, “I taste like chocolate, Mom!!! I just always taste like chocolate.” I asked him if I taste like something, and he licked my arm and told me that I taste, “like light chocolate. Maybe white chocolate”.

Last weekend, the boys slept at my parents’ house while Dave took me out on a birthday date. My mom always sleeps with Simon, and my dad with Eze (Eze loves to hear stories about Bompa when he was a little boy). My mom told me that when she was trying to get Simon to fall asleep (he is the king of staying awake at night), she closed her eyes and pretended to be sleeping. He tried the following strategies to get her to interact with him:

– Playing with her earring. He would slide it back and forth in her ear. Then suddenly he would stop and exclaim, “I pahked it, Nana!! I pahked it in yoh eaw” (I parked it, Nana! I parked it in your ear).

– Progressively get louder and he sang, “Naaaanaaaaaa… Naaaaaaaanaaaaaaaa…… NAAAAAnaaaaaaaaaa…. NAAAAAANAAAAAAA!!!!”

Then, once he was asleep, she said he would kick out his arms and legs, and randomly yell out, “No, Eze, no!!!” Hee hee, his brother antagonizes him, even in his dreams.

Simon’s language continues to come along. When he sings his ABCs, he sings “A-B-C-D-H-I-K!!!!!”

He also walks around singing, “Happy birthday, Uncle Joel!”

“Wait me, I coming!” (Wait for me, I’m coming!)

He is now no longer speaking in the third person. The other night, he saw a picture of himself, and instead of saying, “Dat’s Simon”, he said, “Dat’s a me!”

These boys are growing closer and closer every day. Sure, we have a fair number of arguments every day. And accidental (most of the time) owies. But Ezekiel’s voice when he talks to Simon is 95% of the time sweet. Ezekiel will ask, “Hey Simon, want to play cars with me??” Simon will usually answer back, “Ummmmm….. sure, Eze!” They are keeping each other occupied, and playing really well together more and more often. Summer has been good to help their relationship grow better and better. Eze has more patience and grace with Simon than I’ve seen from him. And Simon is getting less angry when things go Eze’s way. I’m thankful as I watch their relationship grow.

"Shhhh... I'm on da phone... Oh, hi Uncle Jeff!" ummm... we don't know of any Uncle Jeffs.
