Kid-isms

(I’m so used to only having Ezekielisms, that’s what I initially named this post. Oopie 🙂 )

I have been doing such a bad job these days of writing down the awesomely hilarious things the boys say every day. I did a good job when Eze was little. I have no idea how SuperMoms do it. Here’s to catching up for now.

~~~~~
In the car this past weekend…
Eze: Hey Mom, could we go visit some of our friends who are in jail?
Me: Um, I don’t think any of our friends are in jail right now.
Eze: I guess I don’t really know what jail is, then.
Most nights, Simon spends quite a long time singing, chattering and yelling from his crib. Most nights, we pull Eze from their room so he can get to sleep in our bed, and then we carry him back to his room when we go to bed. One night, Simon started up his noise-making, and suddenly we heard him saying (loudly), “Ettie???? Ettie ah you?” (Eze? Eze, where are you?). I went in later when he was quiet and sleeping, and saw that Ezekiel had hidden his head under the covers to go to sleep 🙂
~~~~~

Eze: Mom, did you know I have an ally?
Me: Who is your ally?
Eze: *points to Simon*
Me: You’re right! What is an ally?
Eze: Somebody who helps you out! I learned it on Word.Girl.

~~~~~
Tonight, Simon worked really hard on repeating after us, “I”… “love”… “you”. He can say each of the words, but can’t quite say all of them together. He gets so excited because we cheer so loudly each time he learns a new word.
~~~~~

I love watching these two together. They were made to be brothers. They love like brothers, fight like brothers, laugh like brothers. When I watch Simon eagerly watch what Ezekiel’s doing so that he can do the exact same thing. When I hear Ezekiel stay calm and not yell back at his brother, even though his brother is yelling at him for the umpteenth time in a day. When I hear their symphony of sleepytime breathing in their room at night. I know it’s God who has knit our family together into a colorful, hilarious little tapestry.

    You aren’t realizing that 2 children take 3 times as much time, but it is true!
